Date: 12/04/2024
Transcending Music Legacy: Concert with the Hong Kong Children's Choir was successfully held on 12 April at the Sheung Wan Civic Centre Theatre. This concert was not only the grand finale of the 40th anniversary celebration of the Hong Kong Composers' Guild, but also one of the events celebrating the 55th anniversary of the Hong Kong Children's Choir.
The Hong Kong Children's Choir (HKCC) is dedicated to promoting original local choral music. The concert presented a total of 13 choral works written by local composers over the past 40 years, five of which were commissioned and premiered by HKCC. The Hong Kong Composers' Guild also commissioned composer Chan Kai-young to write a Cantonese choral work, titled in a word, for this concert.
The concert featured a wide range of programme with diverse styles and themes, demanding high level of vocal and choral techniques. All the pieces were performed passionately by the HKCC Concert Choir and Senior A members, who carried on the legacy of local choral music.
The concert recording is now available on the RTHK Radio 4: https://bit.ly/4dJN9w8.
