HKJC x Tai Kwun – Simple Gifts of Joy 2024: The Gift of Music

The annual festive event "HKJC x Tai Kwun – Simple Gifts of Joy" was jointly hosted by the Hong Kong Jockey Club and Tai Kwun, once again transformed Tai Kwun into a magical Christmas wonderland this December. This enchanting setting allowed Hong Kong residents to create memorable and heartwarming moments with family and friends during the holiday season. The Hong Kong Children's Choir (HKCC) was honoured to perform at the opening event, "The Gift of Music," which took place on 1, 6 and 7 December. The performances were held in front of the grand Christmas tree at the Parade Ground, enhancing the festive spirit with their delightful carolling.
The first day of "The Gift of Music" also marked the lighting ceremony of the 12-meter-tall Christmas tree. On 1 December at 8pm, led by HKCC Music Director and Principal Conductor Kathy Fok and accompanist Lin Ching, HKCC Concert Choir sang a repertoire of Christmas-themed songs. Their selections included A Jingle Bell Christmas, Christmas Express and a specially rearranged piece Simple Gift by HKCC Composer in Residence Dr Steve Ho for this occasion.
As the choir's melodious voices and lively tunes filled the air, complemented by the accompaniment of various instruments, the Christmas tree slowly lit up, heralding the beginning of this annual winter celebration. The enchanting performance set the tone for a magical and festive season, making it an unforgettable start to the event.
