Dance Gala 2026 "Poetry, Fairy Tales, in Connection"

Two spectacular dance shows of The Hong Kong Children’s Choir (HKCC) Dance Gala will be staged at the Kwai Tsing Theatre Auditorium on 17 and 18 October.
Following the great success of HKCC 55th Anniversary Dance Gala "Boundless Dance", HKCC is proud to present Dance Gala 2026 “Poetry, Fairy Tales, in Connection”. Centred on three core artistic themes — literary gaze, gaming rhythm and fairy-tale leaps, this grand stage offers HKCC young dancers a wonderful platform to showcase their growth and artistic flair. Bringing around 600 members onto the stage, the gala transforms classic Chinese poetry, fairy tales, and video game elements into vivid body movements, showcasing the progress gained through long-term dance training.
The gala boasts an extensive and diverse dance repertoire, covering Chinese dance, ballet, jazz, hip hop and tap dance. The highlight performances include majestic water sleeves, traditional drum plates, and dynamic kung fu fan dances. Exquisite stage props, including moon lanterns and lotus leaves, alongside tailored costumes and professional lighting design, create immersive, poetic, and dreamy atmospheres. Young dancers interpret timeless literary works such as Ode to the Goose, Ballad of Mulan and Spring Dawn, recreate classic fairy tales including Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves, Alice in Wonderland and Sinbad the Sailor, and integrate trendy game elements to retell familiar stories through pure dance and physical expression, delivering a stunning all-round audio-visual feast.
