The harmonica course is personally taught by world harmonica champion Lee Chun Lok.
In the course design, the instructor will teach a series of unique harmonica techniques, such as
(1) the "Ha" breathing technique: this technique aims to improve students' diaphragmatic breathing ability;
(2) the tongue-free articulation technique: this aims to enable students to easily play lively music;
(3) the flower tongue flutter-tonguing technique. These techniques are not only essential for playing harmonica pieces but can also effectively enhance students' singing skills, such as helping with rolled Rs in Italian and Spanish songs.
In terms of harmonica selection, this course will use the Hummingbird chromatic harmonica. The Hummingbird harmonica has a wide range, allowing students to easily play violin and flute pieces, and its playing speed can be comparable to that of violins and pianos.
Apart from solo performances, the harmonica course also includes duets, trios, quartets, octets, small ensembles, and large ensembles. All course activities require students to have a professional and serious attitude towards learning. Another goal of the course is to bring together a group of students who love playing the harmonica and to form a harmonica orchestra, allowing students to gain more stage experience and a sense of achievement in musical performances. This course also aims to enhance students' musical knowledge and appreciation abilities, making them music enthusiasts who recognize the value of music education and the arts in life.
